No Probe on Aamir Khan Starrer PK: Fadnavis
Aamir Khan’s latest movie PK is turning out to be the best Bollywood film released in 2014. The movie has already collected over Rs. 250 crores in India alone within a fortnight and is all set to be the first film in Bollywood history to touch the 300 crore mark. But, there are a lot of Hindu outfits protesting against the screening of the film and demanding removal of certain scenes in the film where there is disrespect shown on Hindu religion. There is also an internet war going on between the supporters and the non supporters of the movie PK.
While all this was going on, the Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Ram Shinde had said yesterday that he had asked the Mumbai police to check into the content of the movie PK. But, today the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has overruled the order of the MOS for Home Ram Shinde and said that there would not be any probe on PK movie. Shinde had ordered the probe after receiving complaints from several right wing Hindu organizations that the film has portions where it hurts the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
Chief Minister Fadnavis today clarified that, “The film is already certified by the censor board. There will be no other inquiry of the movie. The Government will take care of screening the movie without disturbing law and order. There is no question of banning the film.” He said that the Government would give security to the theaters screaming the movie if needed.
The right wing Hindu organizations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, have sought a ban on the movie PK for disrespecting the Hindu religion. Even the popular Yoga guru Baba Ramdev had asked the movie goers to boycott the film. There are many people who have seen the movie and feels that there is nothing in the movie that disrespects the Hindu religion and the movie only takes a dig at the so called human gods. Bollywood has also come out in support of the movie PK.
The movie PK stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput other than Aamir Khan and is directed by popular film maker Raj Kumar Hirani, who has also made the Munna Bhai movies and of course Aamir starrer 3 Idiots. Aamir Khan also had made a statement earlier that he did not foster any intentions of disrespecting Hindu religion through this movie. He said that his Hindu friends have seen this movie and they did not find anything objectable in this movie.
